Privacy Policy

PSPO·I Trainer ("the app", "we") is an independent, free study tool for the Professional Scrum Product Owner I exam. This policy explains what personal data the app processes when you use it, why, and what rights you have.

1. Who we are

PSPO·I Trainer is operated by Ahmed Salem as a personal, non-commercial project. For privacy questions, contact ahmedsalemdigital@gmail.com.

2. What data we process

2.1 Stored locally on your device

Your study progress (questions attempted, correct/incorrect counts, bookmarks) is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key pspo-progress-v1. A small number of related preferences (theme choice, one-time achievement flags) live alongside it in the same localStorage; see the Cookie Policy for the full list. None of this data ever leaves your device. We cannot read it. You can clear it at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser, or by using the Reset progress control under Stats in the app.

2.2 Analytics (consent-gated)

If you accept analytics cookies via the consent banner, we use Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager to understand which features are used and where users drop off. This helps us improve the app. Without your consent, no analytics scripts load and no analytics data is collected.

The analytics data may include:

• A pseudonymous client identifier set by Google Analytics
• Pages viewed inside the app, and interactions such as starting a quiz or mastering a concept
• Device type, browser, language, country (derived from IP, which is anonymised by Google before storage)
• Referring URL, if any

We do not collect your name, email, IP address (after anonymisation), or any data that would let us identify you personally. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.

2.3 Hosting

The app is served by Vercel. Vercel processes standard HTTP request data (IP, user agent, requested URL) for the purpose of delivering content and protecting against abuse. See Vercel's privacy policy.

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Storage of progress in localStorage — strictly necessary for the core functionality of a study tool you have chosen to use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; ePrivacy "strictly necessary" exemption).
• Analytics via Google Analytics — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; ePrivacy Art. 5(3)), obtained via the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
• Server logs at the hosting provider — legitimate interest in delivering and securing the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Details of every cookie and tracker, including duration and purpose, are listed in our Cookie Policy. The consent banner is provided by CookieYes, which may set a strictly-necessary cookie to remember your choice.

5. Data retention

• Progress in localStorage: until you clear it, indefinitely.
• Google Analytics 4 event data: retained for 14 months, then automatically deleted.
• Vercel access logs: per Vercel's retention schedule (typically short).

6. International transfers

Google (Analytics) and Vercel may transfer data outside the EEA, including to the United States. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

7. Your rights (EEA / UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK you have the right to:

• Withdraw analytics consent at any time via the consent banner's settings
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you
• Object to or restrict processing
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, email ahmedsalemdigital@gmail.com. Because the analytics data is pseudonymous and we cannot link it back to a named individual, you may need to provide identifying information (e.g. analytics client ID) for us to act on a request.

8. Children

The app is intended for adults studying for the PSPO I exam and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of consent in their jurisdiction (16 under GDPR's default; lower in some member states, e.g. 13 in the UK and Ireland).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
